Strength Training

Ka Ulukoa's strength training program is geared toward strengthening the body so athletes are better equipped to handle the rigors of competitive training and play.

Strength Coach Ian Hasegawa gradually progresses athletes through the program, emphasizing mechanics first, followed by the gradual increase in resistance that's appropriate for each individual participant.

Speed, Agility, and Plyometrics

The Ka Ulukoa S.A.P. clinics focus on the foundation of the sport.... movement! Enhance your skills training by increasing your movement proficiency and adding inches to your vertical.

Recommended: Grade School and Intermediate Level Athletes

Plyometrics

We will be offering sessions that focus solely on Plyometrics. The sessions are geared toward increasing your vertical but are also key in helping you develop proper body mechanics. Learn how to land correctly, use leverage, incorporate your arms and every other part of the body to help create distance between you and the ground.

Ka Ulukao's SAP Clinic is perfect for grade school and intermediate school level athletes. The basis for a schedule that alternates every three weeks is to familiarize the athletes with the proper movement mechanics. Applying focus to proper mechanics at an early age will allow the athletes to take advantage of concentrated clinics after they have developed and realized an increase in strength that is associated with growth and age.

The series is divided into three categories:

  1. Taking the First Few Steps Explosively (Speed)
  2. Changing Directions (Agility)
  3. Jumping into Action (Plyometrics)

Every week we will feature one of the three categories.
