FOREWORD ABOUT TRAININGKa Ulukoa training sessions focus on skill development and technical proficiency with an end goal of skill mastery. All session are an opportunity for athletes to receive technical instruction and repetitions for the various skills required in the competitive volleyball environment. If you are interested in building a strong technical foundation... go no further. This is the place you want to be. To the right, you'll see several types of training sessions. The training sessions are typically on-going on a weekly basis. In order to check availabiity, click on the registration link below each description. Below is a description of the various camps that we offer. Essentially, our camps focus on two skill sets - attacking and defense. All sessions are open to the public, regardless of school or club afiliation. Please see the individual descriptions for details regarding the price structure. All prices include gym fees and tax. |
OPEN GROUPIn addition to skill development and techincal proficiency, the sessions are also designed to emphasize maximum effort, building confidence, communication and having fun. We highly recommend regular attendance, even though the price structure is per session. Irregular attendance tends to hinder athlete development and makes it difficult to create a progressive environment (build off of what was previously learned). Size: 8 to 12 athletes

SEMI-PRIVATEThe Semi-Private sessions are intended to give athletes a better instructor to athlete ratio. In essence, the athletes get more personalized attention. The focus of the session is on skill development and technical proficiency with an end goal of skill mastery. This is an opportunity for athletes to receive technical instruction and repetitions for the various skills required in the competitive volleyball environment. Size: 4 to 7 athletes

CAMPS - ATTACKINGThe Attacking camps are broken into two categories - Outside Hitter and Quick Tempo Attacking with Blocking. The Outside Hitter Camps are further divided into three levels.
The Quick Tempo Attacking with Blocking camp is for athletes that are capable of a strong attack. You may be asked to attend an evaulation prior to being accepted into this camp. Camps are usually spread out over the course of 5 days. We may offer compressed courses but you are guaranteed 10 hours of instruction.

PAIRINGSPairings - if you're looking for lots of repetitions but don't want to go it alone, this is the way to go. I would recommend this setting to everyone. All the training environments are great, but this particular setting stands out. This sessions allows the participants to get tons of reps just like one on one but it also helps the athletes stay fresh because of the added downtime. It also allows the coach more flexibility in drill selection. These sessions also have a tendency to be more upbeat than the private setting. These sessions do have a tendency to be more position specific, ie. Libero, Setter, etc. SIze: 2 to 3 athletes

CAMP - DEFENSEDefensive camps are exactly what you would expect. Here we focus on just about every aspect of defense, from fundamentals to emergency skills. No matter what your agenda may be, we have a camp to fit your needs. The Defensive Camp consist of three different levels.
Camps are usually spread out over the course of 5 days. We may offer compressed courses but you are guaranteed 10 hours of instruction.

PRIVATEThe Private session is one on one with the instructor and clients customize the training. In other words, tell me what you want to work on and that will be the focus of the training. In most cases, athletes are looking to fix a technical deficiency or want to excel at a given skill set when they request private training. In either case, there is an option available to suit your needs. If you're primary goal is to correct a technical deficiency in a specific area, please consider making an appointment on an "as needed" basis (2 or 3 appointments may be required). If you are looking to go in-depth or excel at a given skill set, 10 hour programs are recommended. One on One sessions are physically demanding so we recommend a session length of 1 hour. We will not allow any athlete to train more than 1 1/2 hours in a private setting.
