REQUIREMENTSAll Ka Ulukoa student-athletes must meet the eligibility requirements listed below. Click a tab to learn more.
We encourage all athletes to be academically responsible. One of the program goals is to ensure our athletes can make the transition into college. In order to accomplish this goal, every student-athlete in our program must demonstrate an ability to maintain a minimum grade point average (GPA). 1. Good Academic Standing Policy All student-athletes are required to achieve and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.75 (out of 4.0). Cumulative GPA verification, the latest report card, must be submitted prior to or at tryouts. After acceptance into the program, student-athletes will be required to show proof that the minimum requirement is being met, via quarterly or end of the semester report cards. As part of our commitment to remove the financial barriers often assocaited with competitive team sports, we have created an Academic Fee Reduction Program. To learn more, please visit our Financial Incentive Programs section.
Ka Ulukoa requires that all team members participate in community service. We encourage our student-athletes to be involved in any number of community based projects. Our goal is to help young athletes gain a better understanding of the world around them while giving back to a community that provides so much. Participants have one year to fulfill their requirement. Ka Ulukoa's primary objective is to foster national and international amateur sports competition. Accordingly, it is mandatory* that team members travel to all national events. The requirement for each age group varies, but it gets progressive as the athletes get older. We start out by requiring that our 12 and under teams travel to one national venue. By the time our athletes are 16, they may travel as many as 4 times. The number of times we will be determined by the teams ability to compete and their aspirations. The higher the level and greater the aspirations, the more we are likley to travel. Playing at a high level... Ka Ulukoa is committed to competing at a level that is appropriate for each team. In an attempt to fulfill this commitment, we have chosen to participate in events sponsored by either USA Volleyball or the Juniors Volleyball Directors Association. International... we will be exploring the possibilities of traveling to international venues. Italy, Brazil, China, and Japan are among our target destinations. International venues will only be available to age groups that are 15 and older. * Some exceptions may apply. Please check the Ka Ulukoa Handbook for more details.
